
HMPV virus that has been alarming China for the past couple of weeks, has increased its tension know, after it has started passing borders. This virus initiating from The People’s Republic of China, has irritated people a lot, because increasing diseases day-by-day is quite frustrating. People always try to keep themselves clean and healthy to avoid any such trouble. But when a new one comes to the sight, it scares every individual. No doubt it has its precautionary measures, but it surely frightens.
The Troubled Country
It was already suspected that this virus can affect Asian countries specially China’s neighbors. That is what has shocked Indian people, when they woke up on Wednesday morning and watched their news channels or read newspapers. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, its India who has also been affected by “HMPV” virus. It was quite terrifying for not only Indian people but people of other countries; like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, etc. also. Let’s hope it just remains limited and does not spread widely.
Let’s talk about the current situation of India regarding this virus:
India on HMPV
As on 07-01-2025, seven (7) cases were reported in various states of India:
Karnataka: In Bengaluru, two new-borns, a three-month-old girl and a six-month-old boy, were diagnosed with Human Metapneumovirus.
Gujarat: In Ahmedabad, a two-month-old boy tested positive for the virus.
Tamil Nadu: Two cases of HMPV have been told in Chennai.
West Bengal: A six-month-old child in Kolkata was diagnosed with HMPV.
Maharashtra: Including one case in Mumbai, two cases have been reported.
About HMPV
HMPV virus is actually not new, it was first identified in 2001. It has been present in multiple countries which includes India. Necessary precautions have been taken after the present cases monitored.
HMPV is a respiratory virus that typically causes mild, cold-like symptoms. It can be more harmful for infants, older people, and those who have weak immunes.
